High West: Bourbon

Starting with the order, first lets talk a little about High West. High West is a distillery in America, bottling four types of whiskies i.e; American Prairie Bourbon, Double Rye, Rendezvous Rye and Campfire. High West was founded in 2006 David Perkins and his wife, Jane.Other than whiskies they also got barrel aged cocktails. They have their distilleries in UT, USA (three to be specific).

Out of the four, their’s one; American Prairie Bourbon. To many, Bourbon may be a known term but Prairie might not be. Prairie is a term for large open grasslands, mostly in North America. And fyi, Bourbon is a barrel aged American Whiskey, made from corn mainly. Bourbon finds its roots in Kentucky. While there are many brands distilling bourbon whiskies all round, then there’s one, High West American Prairie Bourbon Whisky.

High West American Prairie Bourbon Whisky has the volume of 46% alcohol in it. These are aged anywhere between 2 to 13 years. Straight bourbon whiskies are made of 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% barley malt. On the palate its rich and earthy with well balanced flavors of candy corn, honey nougat and sweet corn bread biscuits.

High West Whisky can be consumed either straight or as cocktails. Old fashioned is one cocktail that is bourbon based and most considered cocktail round the globe for its strong flavour and aroma.
